Academy of Management Archives

The Academy of Management maintains archives of its important historical documents at Cornell University. Under the direction of Richard Strassberg, the Academy archives are professionally maintained as part of the Kheel Center for Labor-Management Documentation and Archives at the Martin P. Catherwood Library, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. The Kheel Center is the one of the most highly respected labor archives of its type in North America. Its documents, artifacts, and photographs are an invaluable source of materials for the study of labor relations and workplace history.

The archives contain back issues of the Academy's journals since inception and an array of documents relating to the Academy's history including such things as its original Constitution, historical newsletters and minutes, to name just a few of the holdings.

Contributing to the Archives

Academy Material

Members who have Academy-related material of archival value may contact the Academy's historian, Regina Greenwood, to discuss making a contribution.

Non-Academy material

Non-Academy material of historical management significance can be donated to the Kheel Center. Richard Strassberg, the Kheel Center's Director, should first be consulted directly if members have documents in their personal collection worthy of preservation or are aware of important historical material destined for destruction by companies or individuals.

Founded in 1949 as the Labor-Management Documentation Center, The Kheel Center for Labor-Management Documentation & Archives is the one of the most highly respected labor archives of its type in North America. Its documents, artifacts, and photographs are an invaluable source of materials for the study of labor relations and workplace history. Included are records pertaining to management theory, arbitration and mediation, and labor unions, among which the needle trades, railroads, and teachers unions are prominent.
