Recruiters:
1) Place an ad on our website through Placement webpage. Ads run for 90 days (220USD).
2) Purchase a table (135USD) per each position listed (multiple jobs for a school will require multiple tables).
3) Register for the conference itself through the main registration page (price varies depending on membership status).
4) We have a block of rooms reserved at Coronado Springs Resort to assist with housing. Please mention this when making your reservation.

Job seekers:
You need to indicate through your profile that you will be attending the conference. There is no charge for this indication. However, you will still need to:
1) Sign up as a Job Seeker for Placement Services.  The costs for Placement Services are $35 USD annually from the initial date of registration.
2) Register for the conference itself and pay through the main registration page (price varies depending on membership status)

What are Placement Services and why should I participate?

Placement Services are provided via the Academy of Management web page throughout the year.  In addition, Placement Services hosts the initial interview process on-site during the Academy’s annual meeting.

The Academy of Management is concerned about providing appropriate settings for conducting interviews. Settings that will accommodate individuals with disabilities and that do have the potential of creating an awkward interview environment. Hotel guest rooms are inappropriate settings for conducting recruiting interviews.
In Lake Buena Vista, Placement Services will be headquartered in Disney’s Coronado Springs Hotel.  The Coronado Springs is approximately a mile away from the other conference hotels, and will be accessible by Disney shuttles operating across the complex.  We are requesting that recruiters and job seekers understand that interview delays may occur as people move from other conference sites to attend interviews, and to accommodate such delays when possible.  We are also advising job seekers and recruiters to exchange contact information, to facilitate communication such as texting should such logistical delays occur.

For the job seeker:
Prior to attending the conference, you should take the time to search through the jobs posted online. All of the jobs which have the conference logo next to them will have a representative on-site. You may make an appointment with to learn more about their position; this should be done prior to your arrival in Boston. Applicants who do not make contact prior to the annual meeting are at an extreme disadvantage since many recruiters’ schedules are full by the time they arrive in Lake Buena Vista.

Placement interviews are your chance to make a great first impression. It is common practice for you to let the recruiters know when you are available to meet with them. Most interviews last approximately one-half hour so plan accordingly. Interview attire and having a copy of your CV are highly recommended. Each interview room will host between nine and 15 schools at individual tables. It is not an acceptable policy for job seekers to speak with other recruiters in the room unless you have an appointment with them or they request a separate interview at a later time. There is no additional charge for this interview service.

For the recruiter(s):
Prior to attending the conference, feel free to search our applicant pool and reach out to them. You are responsible for your own interview schedule. The only item on the table will be your assigned table designation, therefore if you’d like to bring a school banner or literature, you may do so but please remember to take it all with you after you complete your final interview. We cannot be responsible for items left behind. Program materials will be discarded on Tuesday after we close. Tables are 4’ x 2’ please take this into consideration because having more than two recruiters at one table can become overwhelming to applicants. Rooms will be available to you on the following schedule: Friday-noon - 8:00 pm, Sat/Sun/Mon-8:00 am – 8:00 pm, Tuesday-8:00 am – noon. We ask that you conduct all interviews in the designated area.

The interview areas offered by Placement are a very appropriate location for interviews. However, interviews may be conducted in conversation areas available throughout the conference facilities. We do not condone interviews held in other areas of the hotel, nor are we responsible for sending candidates to those areas.

Office Services:
Our Placement staff will be available from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on a daily basis in our office in room Monterrey 1 at the Coronado Springs. A computer lab with printers are available for your use, however, printing should be kept at a minimum as our paper supply is typically very limited (approx. 20 pages). Please bring copies from home if at all possible. There will also be an area with tables for you to ‘prep’ for interviews or just unwind. We are happy to answer questions, help you post a position, give interview advice, etc.
