Over the last few weeks, we have witnessed brutality, violence and social unrest that bring to the forefront the many ways in which societies, governments and organizations create, maintain, and reinforce social inequality on a global level. We condemn racism and the abuse of power. These events motivate us to reaffirm AOM’s professional values and remind us of the role we play as members of this community.
We are firmly committed to respecting the dignity and personal worth of all members and the human and civil rights of all individuals. Our efforts focus on understanding, challenging, and dismantling systemic discrimination; finding peaceful ways to express diverse views; and protecting the vulnerable members of our community.
As educators, we play a vital role in supporting our students and teaching them respect for diverse perspectives. As researchers, we create knowledge that brings about positive change for individuals, organizations, and societies. And as a professional community, we have a responsibility to share and disseminate that knowledge.
We must also act. As individuals, let’s serve as allies for one another and act with compassion and support. As a community, let’s work together to ensure that AOM is a safe and welcoming space for everyone. As an organization, let’s use our combined talents to create positive change in both business and society. Together, we can create a better future.
