Looking Back at AOM 2021
In 2021, the Annual Meeting was held virtually for the
second time in the face of the continuing COVID-19
pandemic and widespread quarantine for members
worldwide. Despite having to spend another year
physically apart, the 81st Annual Meeting of the Academy
of Management used feedback and innovation to bring
members together virtually, with over
9,600 registered participants
representing 94 countries. Attendees
had a rich program to participate in, with the seven-day
1,400+ live sessions and 250+ on-demand sessions.
Visit our website for a full recap of the 2021 Annual Meeting,
including videos from the conference.
The Academy's 76th President, Quinetta M. Roberson,
addressed members virtually on 8 August 2021 to
recognize the shared strengths that Academy of
Management members collectively enable during this
continued environment of disruption. Quinetta entreated
AOM members to “recognize and utilize the kaleidoscope
of strengths that make us the Academy of Management.”
The 2021 Presidential Address is available for viewing
AOM President Quinetta Roberson and
President-Elect Herman Aguinis provided closing
remarks during a live session as they transitioned
AOM leadership. The pair swapped stories of their
experiences attending the Virtual Annual Meeting,
introduced incoming Board Members, and passed the
gavel virtually, with Herman now serving as the
77th President of the Academy of Management. The
full Closing Remarks session is available here.
