Forthcoming in AMP:

Perhaps the most overused term to describe 2020 has been “Black Swan.” Mention Black Swan and most people think of unanticipated events with significant and widespread consequences. This symposium, conceived in 2018, focuses attention on the impact of world-changing events and the consequences for management scholarship. Unexpected shocks are often the product of past human activities and active choices by firms. They are not so unexpected. COVID-19, which occurred as this issue was being put to bed, has uncovered what we got mostly right and wrong about the thinking on such events. The symposium comprises nine papers on teaming in a zombie apocalypse, organized violence in social disruptions, disease pandemics and antibiotic resistance, the refugee crisis, and the post-COVID-19 world.
