In-person Paper and Idea Workshop: Making Theoretical AND Practical Impact

University of Amsterdam Business School
Plantage Muidergracht 12, 1018 TV Amsterdam, Netherlands

30 June-1 July 2022

Purpose and Agenda

The editorial team of Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) invites applications for a Paper and Idea Development Workshop to be hosted in Amsterdam on 30 June–1 July 2022 (Thursday/Friday). The goal of the workshop is to develop ideas and working manuscripts with the aim of later submission for review at AMJ and to specifically zoom in on a key theme for submissions at AMJ: making impact both theoretically and practically. Consistent with the mission of AMJ, submissions on all management-relevant topics, at all levels of analysis, and using all empirical methods are invited for the workshop.

About the Workshop

The workshop is a two-day event. It will include interactive workshops and roundtable discussions with participants.
There is no fee for attending the workshop. A tentative agenda is below.

Application Process and Deadline

Participation is by application only. Interested scholars should register and submit an extended abstract (between 5 and 10 pages of text) of their project proposal by 15 May 2022. Submissions from both faculty and doctoral students are welcome. Please click on the register button below to be directed to the registration form. Submitted abstracts should describe the project, the intended theoretical contribution, the research design, the empirical approach, and the status of the project idea to date. Please note that submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance. The quality of the proposal will be taken into consideration.

If you have any questions and inquiries, please contact AMJ Associate Editors Lindy Greer at GreerLL@umich.edu, or Floor Rink at f.a.rink@rug.nl
