  1. Book your housing and travel before anything else; you don't need to be registered to do so! More than 10,000 members from around the world will descend on Downtown Atlanta, so make sure to book your flight and hotel soon. Our hotel room blocks go quickly, so book now through the AOM Housing Bureau to get the best deals and availability. You are not required to stay in an AOM hotel but they are the most convenient for quick access to your sessions!
 
  1. To maximize your time, be sure to stay in or near the hotel where your Division sessions are being held. Our housing website page shows where each Division, Interest Group, and Committee are holding their sessions to make it easier to choose!
 
  1. Read your division newsletters and emails, they're full of 'must know' meeting information!Are you a Student member? Your division is most likely offering student consortium Professional Development Workshops (PDW's) that are invaluable and geared directly to you! Read your emails for details and sign up as soon as you can, they fill up first!
 

 

It's May! Organize, Organize, and Organize Your Time Before You Leave!

  1. When the Online Program goes live in May, use it to browse and create your customized, printable agenda BEFORE YOU LEAVE. There are 1,900+ sessions to pick from.  Eliminate over scheduling by focusing on your primary divisions first. Choices can be difficult so prioritize and have a Plan B (and C).
 
  1. All sessions are open to ALL paid registrants unless otherwise stated, so read ALL session details in the Online Program very carefully as there are some "select" workshops that require a separate registration due to space limitations or pre-work assignments. If you don't read any "select" pre-registration requirements you are welcome to attend. Doctoral and faculty consortiums typically require separate registration and fill up quickly, so SIGN UP EARLY!
     
 
  1. Search the Online Program for your division's socials and welcome events! These are geared to you and that's where you'll meet like-minded colleagues to begin building your network!
 
  1. Presenting? Bring your laptop!
 
  1. Job Seeker? Sign up for a Placement account and schedule an onsite interview with prospective employers.
 
  1. Bring lots of business cards to share!
 
  1. Make sure to schedule some downtime in your agenda. You never know who you'll meet or when you'll want a break, and Atlanta is a great city to see. It will be the perfect balance to your otherwise crazy, busy schedule! LINK: Atlanta Flyer
 

 

It's July! 5 Things To Throw In Your Suitcase!

  1. Leave the tuxedo at home. Business casual attire is both acceptable and preferred. Be comfortable!
 
  1. Bring a good pair of walking shoes. With sessions across three properties, you'll want to be sure you're as comfortable as possible.
 
  1. August in the Southern US or not, a jacket or sweater is helpful. As with any public space, air conditioning and climate control can run amok, so an extra layer can keep even a temporary chill at bay.
 
  1. Allow extra space in your luggage for take-home materials and souvenirs, particularly any reference books and giveaways you pick up in the Exhibit Hall!
 
  1. Grab-and-go snacks, mints, and a water bottle carried daily in your conference tote bag can be life savers when all that scholarly work leaves you famished and parched (because you overscheduled yourself with so much to attend and so little time to eat) and you're plagued with halitosis.
 

 

5 Things To Do First When You Arrive In Atlanta!

  1. Check in using the self-check-in kiosks. They're located throughout the hotels and Convention Centre, and are a quick and easy way to retrieve you name badge and conference materials while avoiding the crowds.
 
  1. Pick up an area map to help you get your bearings. Maps are available at the onsite Member Resource Center and the AOM Information Booth, or pick one up at your hotel.
 
  1. Download the Mobile Meeting App to create a personalized meeting experience at your fingertips!
 
  1. Wireless connections are available throughout the meeting properties, and Internet cafes with laptops are also be available! Power up your devices and get connected.
 
  1. #AOM2017; Get the most up-to-the-minute information from the AOM social media channels. Spread the word about the meeting, and be sure to share all the photos you take!

  1. Set time aside to visit the Exhibit Hall. It's only open Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Monday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Don't miss out and snatch up some great reference materials and fun giveaways! Located in the Hyatt Regency, Grand Hall (LL2)
 
  1. The New Member Orientation & VIP Networking Event Friday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Exhibit Hall. This is a great way to meet your division representatives and other first-time attendees. Plus there's a cool game with prizes attached! Located in the Hyatt Regency, Hanover Hall (LL2) next to the Exhibit Hall.
 
  1. The President's Welcome Breakfast & Award Ceremony on Sunday from 8-11 am
 
  1. The All-Academy Reception on Sunday from 6-8 pm
 
  1. The All-Academy Closing Farewell Reception on Tuesday from 5-7 pm
 
  1. If you have questions or need any assistance, visit the Member Resource Center in the Hyatt Regency, entrance to the Grand Hall (LL2), or the AOM Information Booth in the XXXXXXXX. Both have you covered! Open Friday through Monday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm., and Tuesday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
