In order to ensure maximum benefit to Annual Meeting attendees, we ask that all conference participants read the Academy of Management Registration Policy below. Members and nonmembers participating in Academy of Management activities, including the AOM Annual Meeting, are expected to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
Academy of Management Annual Meeting Attendance & Registration Policy
All attendees, including individuals scheduled on the official Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting Program, are required to register and pay the appropriate registration fee in order to participate in any capacity at the Annual Meeting. This includes: authors, editors, award recipients, coordinators, discussants, facilitators, hosts, distinguished speakers, moderators, organizers, speakers, participants, presenters, panelists, placement interviewers, secretaries, treasurers, and any division-elected or appointed volunteers. By registering to attend the Annual Meeting, you grant permission to the AOM to take and use your photo and/or video in marketing and promotional pieces, written publications, videos and the association’s website for an indefinite period of time.
Conference registration entitles attendees to full access to the Annual Meeting, with the exception of invitation-only sessions, board meetings, and workshops requiring separate enrollment. Registrants can attend these workshops requiring additional registration, only if they register for them by the posted pre-registration deadline. The AOM Annual Meeting registration fee does not include membership renewal or registration for Professional Development Workshops that require separate enrollment or additional fees. Conference registration is individual and non-transferable. There are no formal meals included in the registration fee.
All conference attendees must wear official conference name badges to all Annual Meeting sessions, workshops, receptions and events. Access to conference functions without a badge will be denied. Name badges are provided to all registered attendees. Members without an official conference badge will be asked to show proof of registration, reprint their name badge or register for the conference. Accepted forms of proof include a registration receipt, a registration confirmation e-mail or a copy of the registration confirmation page. Failure to show proof of registration will result in removal from the conference and will subject registration violators to a formal ethics complaint.
To facilitate interaction between participating exhibitors and attendees, AOM prints a bar code with each name tag which exhibitors can scan to retain that attendee’s contact information – similar to what is found on a business card: name, postal address, email address and phone number. This is an entirely voluntary exchange of information. Members who do not want their information given to an exhibitor in this way should not present their code for scanning. Exhibitors will not be able to access attendee data without their consent.
Guests will be provided with "GUEST" badges only permitting access to the Exhibit Hall. Attendees registered as “GUEST” cannot be AOM members, active or otherwise. Attendees registered as GUESTS are not permitted access to pre-conference workshops or any educational sessions. To attend any sessions, guests must pay and register at the full registration rate. Guests must wear their official conference name badges as proof of their registration in order to enter the Exhibit Hall.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
To cancel registration, a cancellation request must be submitted by the registrant, in writing to the Academy of Management. When registration is cancelled, any additional Professional Development Workshops for which the attendee has registered will also be cancelled. If the cancellation request is not received before the posted cancellation deadline, no refund will be issued. After this date, refunds cannot be granted due to contractual obligations and guarantees. This also extends to registration for any Professional Development Workshops and social events requiring separate enrollment.
The Academy of Management strives to support its members through professional activities at the Annual Meeting. Due to the high safety and security needs, significant cost and limited interest, the Academy of Management does not provide on-site childcare services. Children are welcome to explore the Annual Meeting, accompanied by an adult attendee, and are encouraged to pick up and decorate a guest badge in the registration area.
AOM Annual Meeting attendees agree to conduct themselves in an ethical manner appropriate for a gathering of management scholars. Inappropriate behavior that creates a disturbance, disruption or safety hazard is prohibited inside any official meeting facility. Attendees may not enter any areas under construction or renovation, or during set up or tear down of the Annual Meeting equipment and fixtures. The Academy of Management reserves the right to request attendees found disrupting any part of the Annual Meeting to leave the session or facility, and the attendee may be subject to a formal ethics complaint by the AOM. For more information regarding the ethical course of action in AOM contexts, see the Code of Ethics.
