In August 2022, AOM launched its newest journal: Academy of Management Collections. The mission of Collections is to publish carefully curated collections of articles from AOM’s archive of over 50,000 previously-published journal articles, tied together by an original essay. Much like a museum pulls archived pieces for a curated thematic collection, Collections plays a comparable role for published AOM research.

“This is an exciting new journal in the portfolio that members should check out and consider as an outlet for their future work. It provides a unique opportunity for scholars to curate existing research from the archive and share their insights with the field. It allows authors to really bring themselves and their voice to the table in a manner that is more accessible for readers who are trying to make connections and get an understanding of an area of research.” -Benjamin Martell Galvin, Co-editor of Collections

With effective curation, the archived articles have the potential to provide additional and deeper insights that can increase their contribution to the broad field of management. Like pieces in a museum, they can be assembled to express a narrative that enhances their meaning and contribution.

Collections may be comprised of articles that reflect a single literature, or they may tie together seemingly unrelated articles into a meaningful conversation relevant to the understanding of a topic or issue. A collection includes 10-20 articles selected from the AOM archive, with the original essay. The articles form a coherent thematic whole, as expressed in the curating essay. Each collection, inclusive of the original essay and selected articles, forms a single volume of Collections

Collections is published quarterly in February, May, August, and November. It is currently headed by Co-editors Benjamin Martell Galvin, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources and a Robert A. and Wendy Whitman Fellow in the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University; and Elizabeth L. Rose, Research Chair Professor of Business Policy and Strategy at the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur. Meet the full editorial team here
