About the Workshop

The Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP) is pleased to partner with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) to host an in-person paper development workshop (PDW), to be held on the GIBS campus, Johannesburg, South Africa.

AMP publishes rigorous scholarly articles focused on important real-world problems that have evidence-based, actionable insights for managerial practice and policy. AMP articles are not theory driven. Thus, writing for AMP differs from writing for traditional academic journals. See our open call for papers here.

PDW attendees will meet AMP’s editorial team and learn how to write for AMP. In addition, AMP’s editor in chief will hold a range of general research skills development workshops. Attendees may also submit proposals to obtain personalized feedback on their individual papers and ideas from members of the AMP editorial team.

Workshop Format

Monday, 17 March 2025, 13:00–17:00 local time (followed by dinner)
Tuesday, 18 March, 2025, 9:00–13:00 local time (lunch included)

Registration and Submission information

Pre-registration is required. To attend, please register no later than 20 January 2025. There is a nonrefundable US$25 registration fee to attend the workshop. Registered attendees will be provided dinner on 17 March and lunch on 18 March.

Registrants will be sent the link to pay the registration fee on 1 December 2024. Full payment will be due no later than 12 February 2025.

Registrants are not required to submit a proposal to attend the PDW. However, those who wish to obtain individualized feedback on how to develop their specific research paper or idea for possible publication in AMP should submit a proposal at the time of registration. Each proposal should contain 250–500 words that clearly and concisely detail your research idea or in-progress research paper. Please focus on why your work matters to practice and policy. AMP’s editorial team will provide notice of acceptance of proposals by no later than 5 February 2025.

Timeline
  • Registration and Proposal Submission Deadline: 20 January 2025
  • Proposal Acceptance Decision: 5 February 2025
  • Payment Window: 1 December 2024–12 February 2025*

All registrations not fully paid by 12 February 2025 will be canceled. Please also note that the registration fee, though nonrefundable, may be transferrable.

Please note: A proposal’s acceptance to and development through this PDW does not guarantee its acceptance at AMP as a full text manuscript or provide special preference in the review process.
