2018 Committee Awards

Diversity and Inclusion Theme Committee

The Diversity and Inclusion Theme Committee and the Practice Theme Committee of the Academy of Management are proud to announce the winner of the 2018 Diversity and& Inclusion Best Practices Award, awarded at this year’s Annual Academy of Management Meeting in Chicago. Congratulations to the winner!

Diversity and Inclusion Best Practices Award

The 2018 Award is given to the Organization and Management Theory Division for addressing the needs of their division regarding interacting with new members, through the following long-term initiatives:

  1. OMT cafes for casual meetups with members
  2. “OMT Bike” which provided an informal outdoor approach to connecting with each other
  3. A new member workshop which created opportunities for new members to interact with established division members
  4. Increasing reviewer engagement
  5. The addition of many off-site conference events created to engage new and current members.

Practice Theme Committee

To celebrate outstanding academic contributions to the practice of management, the Practice Theme Committee (PTC) regularly awards academics and research centres whose work has had significant external impact. In Chicago at the 78th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management, the PTC presented the following awards:

Now in its 10th year, the Practice Impact Award seeks to recognize and to celebrate an outstanding scholar for her or his contribution to research and theory that has had significant impact on managers, organizations, governments, and/or society as a whole.
