Advancing Management Research in Latin America

Hosted by IPADE Business School, this conference had been scheduled to take place 15-17 April, 2020, in Mexico City, Mexico. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was no longer advisable or feasible to hold the conference. Instead, some components of the event were held online.

The Latin American Academy of Management (LATAM) Specialized Conference in Mexico City, hosted by the IPADE Business School, involved a network of professors, scholars, doctoral students, and executives from over 120 countries. The overall theme and substance of the meeting was to promote learning through the global exchange of management research, issues, and practices in Latin America.

Conference Theme

Beyond Research: Advancing Management Research in Latin America The theme of the LATAM Specialized Conference focused on management practices in Latin America. Latin America (LATAM) is a unique and under-explored region in terms of research. It is unique since its countries form part of four different regions: North America, Central America, Caribbean and South America; and through its rich history, culture, and various socioeconomic and political conditions, provide a relevant setting for management research and its application.

The purpose of the conference was to foster the development of research from Latin American scholars and institutions, to create opportunities for leading scholars to learn more about how their work relates to relevant issues that are embedded within the Latin America context, and to establish connections between management educators and scholars from Latin America with those from other parts of the world.

The Latin American Specialized Conference had three primary objectives:

  1. To develop and share research that originates in Latin America
  2. To foster learning through the share of Latin American management practices
  3. To connect global scholars

Virtual Keynote

Although the Advancing Management Research in Latin America did not take place physically, a virtual keynote took place, followed by a question and answer webinar.
