Peter A. Bamberger: A Vision for Global Impact and the Power of Volunteerism at the Academy of Management
Peter A. Bamberger, Domberger Chair in Organization and Management at Tel Aviv University and Research Director at Cornell University’s Smithers Institute is the current President of the Academy of Management (AOM). A member since 1988, Peter’s journey reflects the transformative power of volunteerism and persistence.
Peter’s passion for service was shaped by his personal experiences. He emphasizes the importance of service, saying, “I’ve always felt like I need to be part of something bigger - something making change for the better.”
Peter’s journey—from a doctoral student feeling out of place to becoming a global leader in management research—is a reminder of the impact of volunteerism, community, and perseverance. His story continues to inspire, showing that a career in academia, coupled with meaningful contributions to AOM can lead to professional and personal fulfillment.

AOM member Professor Katy Mason has been appointed into the role of PVC Dean of the University of Salford’s Business School.
She joins from Lancaster University Management School, where she is currently Professor of Markets and Management, and was the Associate Dean for Research from 2020-2023.
Her research centers on generating insights into how market factors can effectively work across organizational boundaries to collaboratively co-design real-world solutions, making accessible, (re)usable, and valuable innovative goods and services.
“I’m delighted to be joining Salford Business School at a pivotal time in the world of academia and to help further elevate the role we play in nurturing the next generation of talent entering the global business workforce,” said Mason.
