Subject Matter Experts Program

AOM’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) program, created in 2019 as part of AOM’s broader public relations driving goals, helps to reinforce AOM’s exposure to business media and embed the validity of AOM scholar insight to trending topics. AOM Scholars that contribute to the program are selected and vetted based on their AOM membership, research and publishing history within a given topic. They are offered additional media training and leveraged for media interview and commentary opportunities on trending news topics. The program ended the year with 54 media interviews that directly resulted in 70 pieces of media coverage from global tip-tier outlets such as the BBC, Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal.

The SME program also hosts quarterly ‘AOM Scholars On…’ panels where SMEs come together, sometimes alongside business practitioners, to discuss relevant, trending topics. 2023 panels focused on Top 2023 Trends in the Future of Work; Earth and and the Business Case for Investing in our Planet; Employee Engagement: Best Practices in Today’s Workplace; Teaching Management: Best Practices; and Conflict Management: Best Practices in the Workplace.
