Managerial and Organizational Cognition Division (MOC)

2025 Division PDW Program: Call for Submissions

PDW Chair:  Chia-Jung Tsay, University of Wisconsin-Madison

The Managerial and Organizational Cognition (MOC) Division invites you to submit professional development workshop (PDWs) proposals for the 85th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management to be held in person in Copenhagen, Denmark, 25-29 July 2025. All PDWs will take place Friday, 25 July through Sunday, 27 July 2025.

Think about it!

The MOC Division is devoted to understanding individual and collective cognitive processes in organizational contexts, including, but not restricted to: culture and cognition, the nature and role of mental models and representations, judgment and decision making, attribution processes, individual differences, non-conscious forms of cognition (e.g., intuition), cognitive institutionalism, emotion, ideology, diversity, social construction, identity/identification, image, reputation, sense making/meaning making, symbols and artifacts, categorization, knowledge creation and management, individual learning, organizational learning and memory, and communities of practice.

Learn about it!

PDW sessions present an opportunity for Academy members to interact in new and innovative ways. We’re looking to sponsor PDW sessions in many formats (workshops, panel discussions, tutorials, town hall meetings, breakout sessions, debates, round tables, research incubators), but we’re especially interested in proposals that are innovative, integrative, developmental, and inclusive. We encourage submissions that experiment with new formats and/or shorter bursts of interaction and those that offer unique experiences for the participants. In crafting your proposals, remember that MOC encourages PDWs that build bridges spanning the macro, meso, and/or micro levels of analysis. As in previous years, wherever possible, we encourage you to create proposals that may be of relevance to more than one division.

Tell us about it!

Please be sure to follow the Academy of Management's PDW Guidelines for Submission.

PDW submissions should be made through the Academy's Submission Center website. The Submission Center opens early December 2024. The submission deadline is Tuesday, 7 January 2025 at 17:00 ET (UTC-5/GMT-5).

You are welcome and encouraged to discuss potential PDWs with Chia-Jung Tsay before submitting your proposal.
