AMR Launches Video Interview Series

10 Mar 2021
In these Origins videos, authors explain, 'Where does theory come from? How do authors come up with great ideas?'

AMR Origins Video SeriesEver wonder where theory comes from? Or where authors come up with the great ideas that are discussed in doctoral seminars for years to come? Or how elements of theory development are altered in the review process?

Academy of Management Review and the editorial team led by Editor Sherry Thatcher and Associate Editor Rich Makadok have initiated a new outreach effort in the form of author interviews. The video interviews will occur as part of “The AMR Origins Series: Where Does Theory Come From?” and are available on YouTube.

There are three main goals of this outreach effort. First, the videos are designed to help demystify the process of theory writing, especially for scholars new to the realm of conceptual development. Second, they are an avenue for meeting our vision of intentional inclusion by providing information about developing theoretical contributions to audiences who work at institutions on the social and geographic periphery of the management field. Third, these interviews provide our authors with an additional outlet and an expanded audience for their ideas.

The interviews conducted as part of the AMR Origins Series are available for viewing at the Origins playlist, part of the AOM YouTube Channel.
