AOM and The PhD Project

 

The Academy of Management is proud to be a partner of , an organization aimed at changing the future workforce by providing historically underrepresented students a model of achievement and businesses to enrich the talent pipeline.

 

Through partnerships, networking, mentoring, and unique events, The PhD Project empowers the community to help students from historically underrepresented backgrounds earn PhDs so they can inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders.

 

When the PhD Project was launched in 1994, there were fewer than 300 diverse business faculty. Today, there are 1,422 active PhD Project faculty members and close to 300 doctoral students, including 642 Management members.

 

More than 750 AOM members graduated from The PhD Project

 

"Over the years, the PhD Project and its members have become a critical source of professional and personal support as I navigated this profession. Although I had a very supportive faculty and collegial peers in my doctoral program, there were at times experiences I had that others would not be able to understand. Like many others in the PhD Project, I was the only underrepresented minority in my doctoral program. Therefore, there were experiences that were unique to me and/or issues that I didn’t feel comfortable discussing with others. However, the PhD Project provided me with a safe space to be my authentic self and get insights from people who may have gone through similar experiences."

What to Expect at AOM 2022

The 82nd Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management will be a hybrid experience, providing engagement opportunities for members attending on site in Seattle, Washington or online via the Annual Meeting platform.

 

Your AOM 2022 registration offers you the following options:

  • On-site attendance in Seattle, Washington, USA from 5-9 August
  • Online attendance on the Annual Meeting platform from 4-10 August
  • Online access to all presentations, including synchronous (webinar and meeting style sessions) and asynchronous (on-demand) sessions through 31 December 2022
  • Access to the Career Fair in Seattle, Washington, 5-9 August and online on 2 August

Sessions will be available three ways:

  1. On-site sessions in Seattle, Washington
  2. Virtual sessions available only on the Annual Meeting platform
  3. Hybrid sessions live-streamed from Seattle, Washington to the Annual Meeting platform
