As the 80th Annual Meeting closed, the Academy announced new members of the AOM Board of Governors, celebrated award winners, and announced the theme for the next Annual Meeting.

Career Achievement Awards

AOM Career Achievement Award Committee Chair Brian Boyd presented the 2020 Distinguished Scholarly Contributions to Management Award to Joel Brockner, Columbia University, and the 2020 Distinguished Service Award Winner to Andrew H. Van de Ven, University of Minnesota, in recognition of their significant contributions to the field of management.

Closing remarks

AOM President Jacqueline Coyle-Shapiro and President Elect Quinetta Roberson provided closing remarks during a live session as they transitioned AOM leadership and shared their observations and highlights of AOM2020.

Both Jackie and Quinetta spoke about their own personal Annual Meeting experiences, the successes of this year’s conference, and lastly, the introduction of incoming board members before pass the gavel from Jackie to Quinetta, officially making her the 76th President of the Academy of Management.

As new AOM President, Quinetta went on to introduce the newly elected members of the 2020-2021 Board of Governors.

They also mentioned the tremendous effort of the staff and volunteers who made AOM 2020 a success, with attendees echoing their sentiments:

Virtual Career Fair

The Virtual Career Fair has been an exciting part of AOM 2020, with sessions seeing high attendance and engagement from members. Attendees benefited from Career Coaching, a Job Market Workshop featuring discussions with a global slate of panelists, virtual recruitment booths, and interview tips and tricks.

AOM2020Session_JobFairStrong support for the fair is evident in the number of participants: 45 employers, 402 career fair attendees, and 1,006 active candidates.

Employers have the opportunity to reach more than 800 active job seekers and an additional 18,000 association members located in more than 120 countries world-wide through the career fair, while job seekers have access to a premiere network of academic institutions and corporations looking for high-quality academics, professional scholars, and researchers.

The Virtual Career Fair continues through 14 August.
